Nature Education
The Nature Education Cell of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve (STR) works to build awareness and understanding of wildlife, forests, biodiversity and conservation among school students, local communities and the wider public.
Through nature education and outreach programmes, the Cell encourages people to understand the ecological importance of the Sahyadri landscape and develop a sense of stewardship and environmental responsibility.
Key Activities
- Nature Education & Outreach: Conduct awareness programmes, nature camps, school activities and public outreach initiatives on wildlife and conservation.
- Community Engagement: Encourage local communities to participate in conservation, documentation and environmental activities.
- Internship & Learning Opportunities: Provide practical exposure to students and young professionals interested in wildlife conservation, forest management, biodiversity and GIS.
- Community Welfare: Support initiatives such as health and medical camps for communities living in and around the reserve.
- Sustainable Livelihoods: Promote conservation-linked initiatives and responsible nature-based tourism that contribute to community well-being.
